FULLERTON, CA—Classroom teacher and 65th Assembly District candidate Sharon Quirk-Silva today announced receiving the endorsement of Governor Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown in the race for State Assembly.
"As a teacher, Sharon looks out for her students every day,” said Governor Brown. “As your Assemblymember, she'll help make our schools better and keep college affordable. I urge you to vote for her."
The endorsement is especially noteworthy given how few candidates Brown endorses.
Quirk-Silva was proud to work with Governor Brown in the State Assembly where together they created California’s Rainy Day Fund to stabilize California’s boom-and-bust budget cycles.
Brown signed fifteen laws Quirk-Silva wrote with several that benefit Orange County, including a new veterans cemetery, $47 million for transportation projects, and $53 million for local programs like public safety.
Quirk-Silva currently teaches elementary school children and has spent 31 years teaching in the Fullerton School District. She is the former Mayor of Fullerton and served in the Assembly from 2012-2014.
The 65th Assembly District includes Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, La Palma, Stanton and most of West Anaheim.
